NEK TS 606 is the Norwegian’s marine and offshore industry technical specification (TS) covering a variety of power, instrumentation and earth cables that are halogen free and/or MUD resistant, protecting them against the variety of hydrocarbon-laden drilling liquid used in drilling operations in which can have an adverse effect on the cable sheathing material. According to NEK 606, the mud resistant cables shall have a SHF Mud sheath that comply with the requirements in IEC 60092-359 for SHF2 and the below specified.
NEK606 Offshore & Marine Cable standard technical specification has been widely adopted in Europe and internationally with BFOU and RFOU cables, and UX Earth cables in common use.
P15 UX 0.6/1kV Cable is used in fixed installations for control, instrumentation and telecommunication in both explosion and safe areas, in emergency and critical systems. The cable is also used for installations in areas exposed to mud and drilling or cleaning fluids.

Conductors : Tinned annealed stranded copper to IEC 60228 class 2 or class 5.
Insulation : Halogen free thermosetting compound, SHF2. When used as protective earth (PE) wire, the cables coloured yellow/green. When used as single wire, the cables coloured off-white, black, red or blue.

UX P15 is a flame retardant, low smoke and halogen free cable, used for earthing. The cable is mud resistant in accordance with NEK 606.
