Mil-Spec Military part number MIL-DTL-24643/7 is comprised of one cable-type designation: LSMHOF. LSMHOF is available in a range from 7 to 61 conductors and can be categorized by the Standard Identification Code using either Method 1 or 3. This M24643/7 LSMHOF Shipboard Cable features stranded bare copper conductors, Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) or Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) insulation, and an LSZH cross-linked Polyolefin (XLPO) jacket. This cable is suitable for use in shipboard combat systems, interior communications, and lighting and power applications that do not exceed 600V. However, it may only be used for runs within one compartment or within continuous compartments and shall not be used to penetrate a deck or bulkhead. The Mil-DTL-24643 Mil-Spec covers cables suitable for use in shipboard, communications, instrumentation, and electronic applications.
In the cable designation for LSMHOF, the letters LS refer to low smoke and halogen-free cable. The third letter, “M” stands for multiple conductors. HO refers to a cable that is heat and oil-resistant, and F refers to the flexing nature of the cord.
